Accommodations and Housing for International Students

Freshmen (New, first-time university students)

  • New, first-time students are required to live on-campus in the Residence Halls during their first year at the University of Wyoming.

  • You must secure housing before you arrive. Residence Life and Dining Services should be able to give you information on residence halls. You must take care of this before you arrive. Since you are required to attend International Orientation, you should check-in to the halls early. Please be sure to notify Residence Life and Dining about any need to move in early.

  • Please note that the Washakie Dining Center will not have food service available for ANY people arriving before the Residence Halls officially open. Lunch is the first meal served.

Transfer (Undergraduate with 30 or more transferable university credits) and Graduate Students

  • Students wishing to live in the University Apartments should be aware that there is a very long wait list and it is doubtful that you will find an apartment on campus. It is recommended that you also investigate housing off-campus which you can do by searching on WyoWeb in the classifieds section and in the Laramie Boomerang newspaper. If you do choose to live in an apartment off-campus, it is good if you read the Landlord Tenant Information provided by the Students' Attorney Program before entering into a lease.

  • Even though University Apartment space is very limited, you can still contact them to inquire. Another option is to stay in the University Residence Halls. For both the apartments and Residence Halls you can contact Residence Life and Dining Services. They should be able to give you information on residence halls and/or university apartments. You must take care of this before you arrive.

  • If you choose to live in the Residence Halls, please note that the Washakie Dining Center will not have food service available for ANY people arriving before the Residence Halls officially open. Lunch is the first meal served. Further, since you are required to attend International Orientation, you may decide to check-in to the halls early. If you will be living on campus, please be sure to notify Residence Life and Dining about any need to move in early.

It is vital that you try and reserve housing prior to your arrival. On-campus housing can be reserved by contacting the Residence Life and Dining Service Office for information about residence halls and on-campus apartments. There is normally a waiting list for on-campus apartments so you should inquire about this option as soon as possible.
