Virtual Student Orientation

Welcome to the Cowboy Family!

We are excited for you to join us as a student at the University of Wyoming this fall. Virtual orientation will provide you information about the many programs and services offered at UW of the course of several weeks, as well as the opportunity to make connections with other incoming students.

Use the resources below to get started!

Register Now Icon

If you haven't already, you will need to register for orientation through your WyoWeb account in order to access the weekly topics and to set up an academic advising appointment.

Student Advising

UW requires all students to meet with their academic advisor prior to registering for courses for the upcoming semester. Your advisor will be in contact with you via email during the month of June to set-up an advising appointment for fall class registration so be sure to check your email (including Spam folder) over the upcoming weeks!

Virtual orientation will take place through our WyoLearn platform. Click here to get started and follow these steps AFTER you have registered for orientation:

  • Click on Enroll
  • Include your full name and personal email address
  • Then click Enroll in Course
  • Follow the email verification process to complete your registration.

Please note: this is a different step than registration through WyoWeb which you must do below in order to be connected with your advisor.

Surveys Icon

We want to get to know more about you throughout the summer by asking you questions through some surveys during Orientation. Two surveys are open for you to complete and should only take about 5-10 minutes to fill out.  Please complete the surveys as soon as possible:

Student Connections

Even though Orientation is virtual this summer, we want to provide you an opportunity to meet other incoming students. Each week over the summer, small Student Connect groups will gather virtually once a week to meet fellow, future classmates and interact with Orientation Leaders (current UW students working with Orientation). Groups will meet on an app called ZeeMee. If you haven’t already downloaded the app, we recommend doing so this week and joining the University of Wyoming network, Accepted Class of 2024 channel.

Don't Forget...

  • Submit your immunization records for verification
UW requires students submit proof of two Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) vaccinations. To be in compliance with the MMR immunization requirement, the immunization record must show your name, date of birth, and be signed on or after the date of the second MMR immunization by your medical provider or a representative of a health care agency.  Your immunization hold is not cleared until you have a green checkmark on your WyoWeb account.  Please contact Student Health Service if you have any questions at (307) 766-2132 or StudentHealth@uwyo.edu.
  • Math Placement
Most incoming students to the University of Wyoming are required to take the math placement exam (MPE) prior to registering for a math course. It is recommended that you take this test at least 7 days prior to your advising session and any retakes at least 24 hours prior. (This allows time to prepare, participate in online tutoring, and retest if desired.)
Complete information about the Math Placement Exam, preparation materials and possible exceptions to the math placement testing policy can be found on the math department web page, https://www.uwyo.edu/mathstats/math-placement/. The site also includes a link to the testing site, “Get Started” button, and you may also follow the link from your WyoWeb check list when you are ready to take the test.

The test is available online via your WyoWeb account. The cost is $15 plus tax for the ALEKS package and $10 for Honorlock Proctoring (per attempt).  The fees can be paid via a credit/debit card just prior to taking the exam.
