Virtual Orientation

Orientation Logo

Welcome to the Cowboy Family!

We are excited for your student to join us at the University of Wyoming this fall. We understand it is important to provide you information about the many programs and services offered at UW.

Your Schedule

Each week, new modules will be available on the online platform to provide you and your student information about the week's awareness topic. We recommend going through the information posted weekly to help you and your student prepare for the start of the fall semester.

Your Student's Schedule

Students will also have weekly modules through the student Orientation platform.  This is a way for them to get information to help them transition to becoming a UW student.  We also know it is important for them to get to know other incoming students.  Each week over the summer, small Student Connect groups will gather virtually to meet fellow, future classmates and interact with Orientation Leaders (current UW students).

How to access Orientation modules

Virtual Orientation will take place through the WyoLearn platform. Student and parent have different modules.  Go to to gain access to the Parent/Family Orientation. Click on Enroll; include your full name and personal email address then click Enroll in Course; follow the email verification process to complete your WyoLearn registration.

We want to hear from you!

When Orientation first started, we asked your student to complete a survey to tell us a little bit about themselves and ways they may be interested in getting involved. Now, we would like to hear from you...what you are excited about for your student starting at UW in August, concerned about, and what do you want to learn more about.  We will use this information to learn more about this incoming class. Please complete the survey below as soon as possible:  Parent/Family Member Orientation Survey.

The University of Wyoming requires all students to meet with their academic advisor prior to registering for courses for the upcoming semester. Academic advisors will contact your student via email during the month of June to set-up an advising appointment for Fall class registration.  Please remind your student to continue to check their email (including the Spam folder) over the upcoming weeks.

  • Submit your immunization records for verification
UW requires students to submit proof of two Measles, Mumps, and Rubella (MMR) vaccinations. To be in compliance with the MMR immunization requirement, the immunization record must show the student's name, date of birth, and be signed on or after the date of the second MMR immunization by your medical provider or a representative of a health care agency.  The immunization hold is not cleared until there is a green checkmark on your student's WyoWeb account.  Please contact Student Health Service if you have any questions at (307) 766-2132 or
  • Math Placement
Most incoming students to the University of Wyoming are required to take the math placement exam (MPE) prior to registering for a math course. It is recommended that they take this test at least 7 days prior to their advising session and any retakes at least 24 hours prior. (This allows time to prepare, participate in online tutoring, and retest if desired.)

Complete information about the Math Placement Exam, preparation materials and possible exceptions to the math placement testing policy can be found on the math department web page, The site also includes a link to the testing site, “Get Started” button, and your student may also follow the link from your WyoWeb check list when you are ready to take the test.

The test is available online via the WyoWeb account. The cost is $15 plus tax for the ALEKS package and $10 for Honorlock Proctoring (per attempt).  The fees can be paid via a credit/debit card just prior to taking the exam.
