History

These major campus buildings of the mid-1960s exhibited the predominance of bold modem architectural designs appearing on college campuses across the country. This spate of building was concentrated in the northwestern portion of the Laramie campus. In a space between the Geology Building and Old Main, where the Art-Bookstore and old Normal Buildings had stood, were erected two massive and identical science buildings. These large, modern, box-like, multistory structures, erected in 1966, were named the Biological and Physical Sciences Buildings. Each corner of the buildings is decorated with large sandstone support blocks that artfully depict the science endeavors that are found inside. The complex is divided by a large open space with flower beds.
