How far in advance do I have to schedule my visit? - Top

We request that you give us at least 1-2 weeks notice prior to scheduling a visit. This will give us enough time to request faculty and other advisors to meet with you during your visit.

On which dates should I visit? - Top

UW is open for visits Monday through Friday from 8-5 during the school year and 7:30-4:30 in the summer. You should avoid visiting campus on holidays, advising week, finals week, etc. These are our anticipated busy days when faculty will be unavailable. Before planning your visit, please consult our Academic Calendar.

Can I visit on Saturday? - Top

We are unable to schedule individual visits on the weekend. However, if a Saturday program appeals to you, consider attending Discovery Day, Campus Pass, or Showcase Saturday.

How can I schedule a visit? - Top

Once you know your arrival date and time, you can register online for a visit by completing our visit request form

I am a school counselor. How can I set up a visit for a student? - Top

You can either complete the online visit request form yourself or direct your student to this site. You will need to have the following information about your student:

  • Student's visit date and arrival time
  • Student's name, mailing address, phone number, e-mail address, date of birth, and high school
  • Whether or not the student has applied and/or been accepted yet
  • Which major(s) the student is considering

I already scheduled a visit. What happens now? - Top

Once we have received your request to visit campus via the online visit form, we will start confirming all of the appointments you have requested. Usually, this includes an appointment with Admissions, an appointment with faculty in your department of choice, a campus tour, and lunch in Washakie Center. Once we complete your schedule, you will receive a copy with directions by e-mail.

I received a copy of my schedule via e-mail. How do I make changes? - Top

You can e-mail us at visituw@uwyo.edu or call us directly at 307-766-4075.

Why didn't I get the department I requested? - Top

If you requested to meet with a representative within a specific department, we do the best we can to schedule an appointment. However, sometimes faculty is unavailable, and if this is the case, then we will have a packet of information available for you to pick up within that department.

When should I schedule my visit if I want to meet with Nursing? - Top

Students interested in meeting with the Nursing Program are encouraged to schedule their visit on a day that Nursing faculty are available. Click Here for more information.

Can I meet with a coach during my visit? - Top

We are happy to arrange appointments with club teams, rodeo, and spirit squad, just let us know when you arrange your visit.

We are unable to arrange visits with NCAA D1 sports or coaches. You are encouraged to contact, or have your coach contact, the teams directly. Check out www.gowyo.com for contact information. Depending on rules, regulations, and coach availability, they may be able to meet with you at the end of your campus visit.

What will happen on my visit? - Top

Plan to be on the UW campus to check-in approximately 15 minutes prior to your first meeting. We will review your schedule with you and provide you with the materials you need. Schedules will vary according to the student's interests, but most visits offer the following:

  2. Appointment with a professor or advisor within the department of your choice (for example, Business, Chemistry, Elementary Education, etc.)
  3. Campus walking tour, guided by a current student
