The Cattle Industry Convention & NCBA Trade Show

  • Description: The Cattle Industry Convention & NCBA Trade Show is the event for anyone in the cattle industry, especially for those getting their start in the industry! From educational sessions like Cattlemen's College and the General Sessions to hands-on experiences in the NCBA Trade Show, there are opportunities for students to learn, grow, and network within the cattle industry.

Shell Valley Consulting Rangeland Ecologist 

  • Location: Shell, WY 

  • Description: The successful candidate will have knowledge/experience conducting vegetation surveys of plants found in the intermountain west. Projects are frequently located in remote locations & require adequate back country skills & independent problem solving. Vegetation investigations include report writing/preparation, mapping and research. The candidate will be expected to travel up to 20 days per month during the field season. Projects employ various vegetation monitoring techniques including line-intercept, plot (Parker or Daubenmire), belt and cover type transects. Additional field responsibilities include assisting in water sampling, stream channel cross-section and stream profile surveys, wildlife monitoring and studies for endangered plant and animal species. Timber projects include timber pre-sale preparation. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to learn new skills.

US Department of Agriculture Pathways Recent Graduate Loan Assistant/Specialist 

  • Location: Portland, Oregon 

  • Description: This position is located in a State or Area Office in USDA/Rural Development (RD) and will have a major focus on RD Energy Programs (REAP; HBIP; Advanced Biofuel Payment Program; and the Biorefinery, Renewable Chemical, and Bio-Based Product Manufacturing Assistance Program). It is a developmental position with duties designed for advancement to the next higher level of Loan Assistant GS-1165-7 with full potential to GS-9.

University of Wyoming Extension Technician Job Opportunity (Temporary) 

  • Location: Cheyenne, WY (remote work possible) 

  • Description: I am seeking to hire an undergraduate student for a temporary opportunity. This project is part of a collaborative effort to assess horn fly infestations on beef steers in partnership with the University of Wyoming and USDA. Students will assess digital images of cattle, both face and side profiles of the body, and count flies on animals. Data will be uploaded in an excel database. The work requires the ability to focus, finish tedious tasks, manage a portfolio of images, manage spreadsheets, and communicate with both UW and USDA researchers. The work can be completed remotely and a laptop computer can be provided if needed. Pay rate is $12 per hour.

CSC Outreach and Communications Internship 

  • Location: Campus Sustainability Committee at the University of Wyoming 

  • Description: The CSC Communications intern will primarily be responsible for managing CSC social media and other outlets to promote CSC efforts, events, and related sustainability items relevant to campus and the surrounding area.

Scholarship | Funding 

Cheney First Abroad Planning Scholarship 

  • Description: This year, Education Abroad is excited to be offering the Cheney First Abroad Planning Scholarship for the second time. The First Abroad Planning Scholarship supports first-generation students in their efforts towards planning an education abroad experience. It is a one-time scholarship of up to $5000 used to fund participation in a UW-approved education abroad program. We will award between 7-10 students in the 2021-22 school year. These awards are considered planning scholarships and will be disbursed the semester before your study abroad.

Etiquette Dinner 

  • When: Wednesday, October 6th from 5:30-7:30pm 

  • Location: UW Conference Center-Hilton Garden Inn 

  • Description: Enjoy a 3-course dinner provided with instruction on cultural, networking, and dining etiquette. 

    • A $20.00 deposit is required to reserve your seat. This deposit will be returned to you after the conclusion of the dinner. You must show up on time, and remain for the entire duration of the dinner to receive the deposit back. If you cannot afford the deposit, please email to make arrangements to attend the dinner. 

    • Dress code is business casual to business professional - whatever you have that you consider nice clothing and would align with a potential profession you wish to enter.
