Crop Quest Jobs and Internships

The Cattle Industry Convention & NCBA Trade Show

Shell Valley Consulting Rangeland Ecologist 

  • Location: Shell, WY 

  • Description: The successful candidate will have knowledge/experience conducting vegetation surveys of plants found in the intermountain west. Projects are frequently located in remote locations & require adequate back country skills & independent problem solving. Vegetation investigations include report writing/preparation, mapping and research. The candidate will be expected to travel up to 20 days per month during the field season. Projects employ various vegetation monitoring techniques including line-intercept, plot (Parker or Daubenmire), belt and cover type transects. Additional field responsibilities include assisting in water sampling, stream channel cross-section and stream profile surveys, wildlife monitoring and studies for endangered plant and animal species. Timber projects include timber pre-sale preparation. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to learn new skills.

US Department of Agriculture Pathways Recent Graduate Loan Assistant/Specialist 

  • Location: Portland, Oregon 

  • Description: This position is located in a State or Area Office in USDA/Rural Development (RD) and will have a major focus on RD Energy Programs (REAP; HBIP; Advanced Biofuel Payment Program; and the Biorefinery, Renewable Chemical, and Bio-Based Product Manufacturing Assistance Program). It is a developmental position with duties designed for advancement to the next higher level of Loan Assistant GS-1165-7 with full potential to GS-9.

Australia’s Export-led Ag Sector 

  • Description: Travel to Australia in an epic three week trip that covers seven ecological zones from beach to outback. Visit farms and stations. Learned about Livestock and crops. Earn upper division credits.

UW Virtual Job Fair 

  • Description: Finding a job or internship takes time and effort on your part.  If future employment is important to you – here is a convenient opportunity to meet employers! 

  • Stop into the UW VIRTUAL JOB FAIR on Thursday, October 7 between 2-5 pm to talk to one, or more, of the employers in attendance. 

    • Employers offer either 10-minute time slots or 30-minute presentation  

    • EXPLORE employment options (internship and full-time). 

    • Learn about employers hiring in your field. 

  • In order to meet with an employer, you must sign up for a session with them.  To do so- log into the virtual fair in Handshake, click on the tab for “Available sessions” to search for employers/sessions.  

  • On the day of the fair, you’ll just sign into the virtual fair in Handshake at the appropriate time and click on the “Join Video” link for sessions that you signed up for.  You can find your schedule by clicking on the tab for “Your schedule”.

With a diverse art culture, a flourishing downtown, and a growing foodie scene, Cheyenne should be on your list of cities to work after graduation. The next Live Local Work Local event will feature a young professionals session that allows you to meet professionals who were in your shoes just years before, tours of local companies, speaker panels, and (of course) food!

The World Food Prize events and the Norman E. Borlaug International Dialogue 

  • Description: The theme this year is Gaining Momentum: Food Systems Transformation in the Decade of Action. The events will take place October 18-22, with four roundtable discussions, four interactive workshops, and over 35 side events focused on the following key areas: Research & Innovation, Nutrition-Sensitive Food Systems, Gender Equity & Equitable Livelihoods, and International Cooperation.
