In 1973 Ozzie and Harriet returned to television with the short-lived "Ozzie's Girls," which was a comedy about the Nelsons taking in two college-coed boarders, adjusting to having two "daughters" now that their sons had moved away and married. The show was dropped over concerns for Ozzie's health. In 1974 he underwent surgery for cancer, and on June 3, 1975, Ozzie died at the age of 69. Harriet, born Peggy Lou Snyder, passed away in 1994 at the age of 85.
