Healthcare Career Fair

In 2012, the Wyoming AHEC (Area Health Education Center) took over responsibility for coordination of the Annual Wyoming High School Healthcare Career Fair.

One goal of Wyoming AHEC is to provide pipeline activities for students interested in pursuing a healthcare career in an effort to “grow our own” future healthcare providers.

This is NOT a job fair.  The day is structured similar to a professional conference.  Students will be allowed to choose from a variety of sessions and are expected to conduct themselves in a mature manner.  Each session will last approximately 40 minutes.  When possible, presenters engage the student in an activity relevant to the career he/she is discussing so as to keep the students interested and attentive.  In addition, representatives from Wyoming community colleges and the University of Wyoming will be on-site to talk with the students about available educational opportunities.

Demand for healthcare workers is on the rise

Wyoming AHEC works to provide pipeline programs for students in an effort to 'grow our own' future healthcare workforce.Experts estimate that by 2030, one - fourth of the U.S. population will be over 65. In Wyoming, the 65+ population is expected to increase by 91% from 2010 - 2030.In addition, the U.S. population is getting older and living longer - and older people require more healthcare services.
