Academic Quadrathlon Team
Participation in the Academic Quadrathlon is open to any University of Wyoming student. There is a local competition in the fall, which allows the opportunity for many UW students to participate. From there, the winning team goes on to compete in the Western Section of Animal Science competition. Teams consist of four individuals.
Competitions consist of the following events:
Written Exam • Open Discussion • Oral Presentation
Lab Practicum • Quiz Bowl
The UW Academic Quadrathlon (AQ) Team competing WSASAS, were not only the overall competition winners but also won each of the four individual components of the AQ in a dominating performance! These included the Oral presentation, the Written Challenge, the Lab Practicum and Quiz Bowl. All ANVS majors, team members included Stephanie Schroeder (Douglas, WY), Mandy Thomas (The Plains, VA), Brice McIntosh (Wheatland, WY) and Colin Yorges (Torrington, WY). There were four other teams in the competition including New Mexico State (2nd), CSU (3rd), Oregon State and BYU-Idaho. Dr. Rule serves as advisor to our AQ team. This group will now compete in a Quiz Bowl competition against teams from the other three regions of the U.S. at the 2012 National Cattlemen's Beef Association Convention in Nashville, TN in late January/early February 2012.
