UWYO Collegiate Horsemen's
The Horsemen's serves as a leadership and educational chapter of the American Collegiate Horsemen's Association (http://www.collegiatehorsemen.org/) and is thought of as the "horseless horse group." The group meets twice a week typically on the first and third Monday of each month in the ABS building room 104. However, depending on the meeting's program the group may meet at a different location such as the Hansen's Teaching Arena. The association tries to host one business meeting per month and one educational meeting with involves brining in equine experts from the industry and often includes hands on demonstrations.
In January 2011 the group traveled to National Horsemen's Convention in Denver and they plan to attend the 2011 meeting in Fort Worth, TX. The students meet other college students from 18 other universities and learned more about running a successful chapter and opportunities, new technology, and events in the equine industry.
This year the association will be taking an Equine Industry Tour through Texas in May. The members will visit legendary ranches such as the 6666 and performance horse farms like McQuay Stables in Tioga, breed associations- the American Quarter Horse Association and American Paint Horse Association, businesses within the equine industry such as Equine Sports Medicine, an Equine Dental School, and the Bloodstock Headquarters. The tour will include many opportunities for the students to learn more about the equine industry as a whole and career opportunities.
