Welcome
We are excited about the good things going on in Animal Science! We apply land-grant principles of learning, discovery and engagement for the benefit of students, consumers and clientele associated with animal agriculture. In the past few years, our research productivity and relevance has been ranked 7th and 5th, respectively, in national comparisons of Departments of Animal Science. Our priority areas of research and corresponding expertise of faculty include:
- Nutrition
- Reproductive biology
- Livestock production systems
- Meat science and food technology
Animal Science offers a combined curriculum with Veterinary Science. Therefore, students can major in Animal and Veterinary Science (ANVS) in one of eight options including:
- Production
- Pre-veterinary medicine
- Business
- Communications
- Range livestock
- Meat science and food technology
- Animal biology
- Equine
In addition, we offer an emphasis area in Ag Education, a Plan A (thesis) and Plan B (non-Thesis) Masters, and a Ph.D. graduate program in our priority areas of research.
