ARCC has finished a migration of our documentation from our old MediaWiki powered arccwiki.uwyo.edu to a more user-friendly Confluence powered ARCCWiki.
The move to Confluence enables ARCC to spend less time on the administration of the Media Wiki system as well as the site giving us more time to spend on making sure the content is understandable by researchers. ARCC End User Support Manager Dylan Perkins states how Confluence helps researchers, “Good documentation is key for users to find information about and how to use research resources and Confluence allows us to create more searchable content. On MediaWiki, it was hard for even us at ARCC to find where we had placed pages. On Confluence every page is searchable either through tagging them or through the tree structure of the menu.”
At the moment users can only view the content anonymously and can’t become a named user that can follow particular pages, make comments, or reactions. This is due to licensing as we are looking into what other Atlassian products we would like to include in a more permanent license structure.
The old MediaWiki site will be redirected to the new confluence site and removed. Users should connect directly to the arccwiki on Confluence or follow the links on our website to find the documentation. Any questions can be asked by contacting ARCC.
