ARCC Resources

ARCC maintains a high performance computing (HPC) cluster known as Mount Moran, together with the storage system Bighorn, as well as a more general research storage system called the petaLibrary. These resources are available to all UW researchers.

In addition, ARCC is involved in supporting some more specialized research computing systems. To discuss how ARCC may be able to support your research computing needs, please contact us.

Mount Moran

Mount Moran is a 146.36 Tflop (double precision) cluster serving the University of Wyoming. Unlike many of it's peers on campus, Moran is a general purpose, condominium cluster providing service to all research interests on campus. Further details are available at Mount Moran.

Bighorn

Bighorn is a centralized high performance storage system for high performance computing at the University of Wyoming. Primarily serving Moran, Bighorn also provides storage to satellite clusters on campus. While Bighorn is available/accessible from individual workstations, it is only intended to be used for data storage related to high performance research projects. Further details are available at Mount Moran.

Teton

Teton is a new HPC cluster currently in development.

petaLibrary

The petaLibrary is used for storing research data both for active research projects (called Data Commons area, consists of Home space available to faculty members, and Commons space available to research projects/labs), and for published research (called Data Curation area, consists of Publications space for data with metadata supporting published research, and Archive space). Further details are available at petaLibrary.

Science DMZ

The University of Wyoming Science Network (UWSN) is the campus implementation of the science DMZ principle. The UWSN allows the campus research community to optimize their access to other research entities, data stores and computing resources specific to the needs of their individual projects. This is achieved by high-speed networking with security measures appropriate to management and transfer of research data. Further details are available at Science DMZ.
