Cowboy Battalion competes in Rocky Mt. Region Ranger Challenge Completion

LARAMIE, WY, Sunday Oct. 11, 2009— A team of Army ROTC Cadets from the University of Wyoming's Cowboy Battalion competed today in the Army ROTC Ranger Challenge competition against all ROTC programs in the Rocky Mountain Region.

The annual competition, established by the U.S. Army Cadet Command, was held this year at Jacks Valley training grounds on the Air force Academy.

The Cowboy Battalion placed 5th among 25 teams in this year's competition.

Team members from the Cowboy Battalion included junior Zebulun Coulter; sophomores Thomas Mcatee, Scott Chase, Austin Laffitte; and freshmen Trevor Bell, Jeremiah Longo, and Gregory Saydjari.

The competition included eight different events. The Cowboy Battalion finished first in the weapons assembly and third in the night land navigation event. Other events included a grenade assault course, and a one-rope bridge assembly and crossing task.
