Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Haas was born in Ottawa, KS in 1976. His military career began as a private in the Nebraska National Guard in 1996 while attending York College in York, NE. He transferred to the University of Wyoming in the fall of 1996 and enrolled in ROTC. He was commissioned in December 1998 as a Distinguished Military Graduate and entered active duty in the Ordnance Corps.

Lieutenant Colonel Haas’ professional military education includes the Ordnance Officer’s Basic Course, Combined Logistics Captain’s Career Course, Combined Arms Services and Staff School, Airborne School, Mountain Warfare School, Command and General Staff College, the Joint Planners Course, and the Joint and Combined Warfighting School. Lieutenant Colonel Haas holds an Associate’s Degree from York College, a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Wyoming and a Master of Arts in Human Resource Management from Webster University.

Lieutenant Colonel Haas has held a wide variety of command and staff positions. His assignments include Maintenance Platoon Leader and Maintenance Company Executive Officer 512th Maintenance Company, 29th Support Group (Mannheim, GE), Assistant Brigade Logistics Officer, 3rd Brigade 1st Armored Division (Baghdad, Iraq and Ft Riley, KS), Brigade Maintenance Officer 125th Forward Support Battalion (Taji, Iraq and Ft Riley, KS), Battery Commander for Headquarters and Headquarters Battery, 115th Field Artillery Brigade (Cheyenne, WY), Supply and Services Officer 17th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion (Quayarah, Iraq), Support Operations Officer 17th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion (Ft Richardson, AK), Battalion Executive Officer 17th Combat Sustainment Support Battalion (Ft Richardson, AK and Bagram, Afghanistan), Executive Staff Branch Chief, Logistics Directorate United States European Command (Stuttgart, GE), and Strategic Logistics Planner, Logistics Directorate United States European Command (Stuttgart, GE).

Lieutenant Colonel Haas’ operational deployments include Rijeka, Croatia (Operation Joint Guardian), 3 x Iraq (Operation Iraqi Freedom), and Afghanistan (Operation Enduring Freedom).

Lieutenant Haas’ awards and decorations include: Bronze Star (3), Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal, Joint Service Commendation Medal, Army Commendation Medal (5), Army Achievement Medal (4), Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, Afghan Campaign Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal, NATO, Medal (2), Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, National Defense Service Ribbon, Army Service Ribbon, Oversees Service Ribbon (6), and Parachute Badge.

Lieutenant Colonel Haas is married to the former Ms. Jenny Morton of Worland, WY. They have two children, a daughter (Katherine) age 14 and a son (Aaron) age 7.
