MSG Erich Martin was born in Wabash, IN in 1980. His military career began as a PFC in the 82d Airborne Division as an 11C after completing Infantry Basic Training and Basic Airborne Course. Following his deployment to Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) I and II in 2003, he entered and completed the Special Forces Qualification Course (SFQC) where he spent 2005-2013 in 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne). He then PCS’ed to the University of Wyoming’s ROTC, where he has served as the SMSI for the last three years.
MSG Martin’s professional military education includes the Basic Airborne Course, Combat Lifesaver’s Course, Basic Leaders Course, SFQC, Advanced Leaders Course, Survival Evade Resist Escape (Level C High Risk), Defense Language Institute Russian, Ranger Course, HAZMAT Certification, Special Forces Operations and Intelligence Course, Special Operations Command Jumpmaster Course, Combatives Level I, Senior Leaders Course, Advanced Special Operations Techniques Course, and the Senior ROTC Pre-Command Course.
MSG Martin has held a wide variety of leadership positions. His assignments include Mortar Squad Leader A/1/504th Parachute Infantry Regiment, Senior Special Forces Engineer Sergeant Special Forces Operational Detachment-Alpha (SFOD-A) 094, Operations and Intelligence Sergeant SFOD-A 0331, Operations Sergeant SFOD-A 0332, and SMSI for University of Wyoming ROTC.
MSG Martin’s operational deployments include 2x OEF, 4x Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF), and multiple deployments into the SOCEUR and SOCAF environments.

MSG Martin is engaged to Julie Corbett Chambers of Fort Collins, CO. They have six children, a daughter (Kara) age 21, a son (Tyler) age 18, a daughter (Kaylie) age 12, a daughter (Makahl) age 11, a son (Dylan) age 7, and a son (Nathan) age 5.
