The art minor supports independent thinking, creative organization, imaginative communication, historical research and challenges students to develop personal creative vision, technical expertise and self discipline. The experience and expertise realized in art minor course work provides a valuable and useful link with a wide variety of disciplines.
Students may elect one of the seven areas of emphasis in Art: Art History, Graphic Design, Drawing, Painting, Printmaking, Ceramics or Sculpture. Students must establish a 12 hour residency requirement in upper-division course work in the department for the minor. To fulfill a minor in Art, a student must earn at least a grade of C in each course included in the elected area. Since course prerequisites for upper-division work must be met, students should plan a minimum of five semesters to complete the art minor requirement.
