'Please Give Us One More Boom:' Oil and Gas in Wyoming

Although the oil and gas industry has provided great wealth to Wyoming, the consequences of reliance on these and other natural resources has made the sate's economy vulnerable to the caprices of the marketplace. Drawn primarily from the photographs, archival text, and oral histories in the UW American Heritage Center collections, this exhibit describes the ups and downs of the oil and gas industry in Wyoming from its earliest commercial history in the state during the 1800s, through most recent times, ending with a present day oil and gas boom in Converse County and anticipation of oil development in the Niobrara Oil Play of southeastern Wyoming.
