Organized by artist Melanie Yazzie and presented in conjunction with the 2018 Mid America Print Council (MAPC) conference, Indigenous Mapping: Collecting Truths illustrates fourteen indigenous artists notions of “home.” Each artist shares a different perspective reflective of his or her widely varied home communities and envisioned printmaking processes.

Melanie Yazzie is a professor of arts practices and head of printmaking in the Department of Art and Art History at the University of Colorado in Boulder, CO. Yazzie has generously donated the entire portfolio to the Art Museum. These artworks will become part of the museum’s permanent collection for use in future exhibitions, for research, and in teaching.

  • Funded in part by UW Art Museum Gala Funds
