Old Masters Paintings at the University of Wyoming

February 5, 2005 - December 23, 2006

Old Masters Paintings at the University of Wyoming offers a selection of European, British, and American studio paintings from 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries. Studio portraits, easel paintings of landscapes and marine views, and genre scenes of everyday life are dominant subjects. Many of the artists in this exhibition may be unfamiliar, yet each has contributed to the history of western painting.

All of these paintings are housed in the University of Wyoming Art Museum and drawn from its collection of 7,000 objects. A number of these works have not been on public view for many years. A publication on old masters paintings in the collection is forthcoming.

Funded in part by the National Advisory Board of the UW Art Museum.
