For Teachers

We invite teachers to preview our exhibits and consider the intriguing learning and teaching opportunities provided by a museum visit that allows for the study of original art and materials, framed within discussions of the cultural and historical context of the work. This can be expanded and enhanced by hands on exploration of and play with materials and ideas, motivated and informed by the exhibits on display.

Here you will find curricular materials developed for use with our exhibits, including:

  • suggestions for pre- and post-visit activities;
  • Wyoming teaching standards that can be addressed;
  • historical and cultural background information;
  • suggestions for on-site learning activities through our museum tour programs and in the Shelton Studio.

If these materials inspire other ideas, please let us know! We’ll collaborate with you to achieve your classroom goals.

Museum education staff will work with you to specifically tailor your museum visit to accommodate age and learning levels, and any special needs your students have.

Call our education office (307.766.3496) or e-mail Wendy Bredehoft, Education Curator (wbredeho@uwyo.edu) if you have questions, suggestions or need more information in order to schedule a museum visit.
