Volunteers are highly valued and relied upon at the Art Museum. Each year, volunteers contribute hundreds of hours, and their energy and expertise allow the museum to succeed in its goal of bringing culture and art education to the people of Wyoming. If you are interested in volunteering, take a look at the opportunities below and contact the corresponding Museum staff member.
Docents receive museum training and provide critical support for the museum's programs, including Shelton Studio programs, museum tours and special programs and projects. As a docent, you will have the chance to meet artists whose works are on exhibit, enjoy the camaraderie of monthly meetings and explore the world of art. Docent meetings are held from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. on the dates listed below.

Teens are encouraged to apply for a position as a Shelton Studio Apprentice. Student apprentices become part of the Art Museum’s education team and are trained to work alongside artist/teachers in Shelton Studio classes. Apprentices assist with art activities, lesson plans and studio set up and organization. If selected, the teen must commit to working at least 30 hours at the museum. Apprentices who fully complete the program will have the opportunity to spend 20 hours working in the Shelton Studio under the guidance of an artist/teacher on an approved art project of their choice. Materials and supplies will be provided by the art museum.
For more information or to sign up for an apprenticeship contact Heather Bender, Master Teacher, at (307) 766-3515 or hbender1@uwyo.edu.
