10 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Using Art to Create a Dynamic, Diverse and Interdisciplinary Teaching Practice will use the Art Museum’s exhibitions, inquiry model and “Museum as Classroom” approach. Participants will examine co-equal arts integration as a means to develop best practices and educational leadership in the early childhood classroom. Participants will also examine the importance of culturally relevant pedagogical practices in fostering child growth and development.

Early Childhood Educators and Pre-K educators are invited to participate in this professional development opportunity. Participants will be able to submit a form to Wyoming STARS to receive 6 hours of credit upon completion of the workshop.

  • Cost: $40 per person. Lunch is included
  • 6 hours STARS credit available

          • Using art integration and cultural relevancy to develop best practices and advocacy 

1:20 – 2:50                      Family, Community, and Cultural Relationships (1.5 hours) 

          • Creating a learning environment that fosters acceptance and diversity 
          • Developing community partnerships that engage diverse learners 
          • Metacognitive habits of open and inclusive teaching 

2:50 – 3:00                      Break 

3:00 – 4:30                      Child Growth and Development (1.5 hours) 

          • Impact of art integration on cognitive development 
          • Impacts of diversity and culturally relevant pedagogical practice on growth and development 
          • Final thoughts
