July 31, 2007 -- Diane Panozzo is the first full-time master teacher in a University of Wyoming Art Museum pilot education project.

The Master Teacher Pilot Project will provide increased opportunities for K-16 students and teachers statewide to utilize the art museum’s resources to support their own learning and teaching objectives, says Wendy Bredehoft, the museum’s education curator.

“It will offer regular teaching opportunities for pre-service students and enriched teaching opportunities for graduate students,” she says. “It will also establish an on-going relationship between students and the museum, and it will encourage them to regularly participate in museum-sponsored programs.”

Funds for this project were raised at a recent event hosted by Richard and Judith Agee in their Jackson home.

Panozzo brings to the position 28 years of experience in Wyoming schools. Most recently she was an English instructor and an instructor in the Synergy program at UW.

Before that she spent 18 years teaching in Laramie County School District at East High School in Cheyenne. She also taught at high schools and community colleges in Wyoming, Colorado, Nevada and Indiana.

She helped to establish State Standards and Assessments in English, and in speech and drama. She was awarded the Wyoming Arts Council's Literary Arts Fellowship in 2003 and in 2005 was nominated for the Governor's Art Awards. A writer, researcher and teacher, Panozzo says she is most interested in interdisciplinary learning.

Bringing the world of art to Wyoming, the art museum is located in the Centennial Complex at 22nd and Willett Drive in Laramie. The museum is open Mondays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays, 1 to 5 p.m. Admission is free.
