Charles Ksir - 2010 Outstanding Former Faculty
Department of Psychology
Charles Ksir came to the psychology department at the University of Wyoming in 1972. Ksir’s loyalty to UW is made evident in myriad ways. When the College of Education dean abruptly resigned in 1997, Ksir was tapped for the job, and he stayed for four years through a critical rebuilding phase.
Even though he is retired, Ksir still contributes immensely to UW, the Laramie community, and other philanthropic endeavors. Currently, Ksir serves on the Albany County Recreation Board and the State Aeronautics Commission. Ksir and his wife, Sandy, also have traveled to Galveston, Texas, to assist with rebuilding efforts following Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Ksir maintains an office in the Psychology Department.
“What I now understand as a longtime faculty member and administrator is that Dr. Ksir is, and was, the model for student faculty interaction inside and beyond the classroom walls. In short, he deeply cared about his students’ success,” says Matthew Shank, former UW student.
