UW Web Calendar Frequently Asked Questions

A UW Web Calendar allows any UW entity to post a calendar of events that others can view online. These calendars allow others to request the addition of events and allows the owning entity to accept or reject these additions and to easily manage the calendar via a Web interface.

To see an example of a UW Web Calendar, go to http://calendar.uwyo.edu/uw.

To find a link to your UW calendar site, go to http://calendar.uwyo.edu.

How do I see details about an event that interests me?

Click on the event. You will be directed to a page that lists more information.

How do I see all the events happening on a given day?

Click on the number in the square of the date you want to observe.

How can I change my view?

You have the option of two different views: monthly (which is the default) or weekly. Click on the link in the left navigation pane that describes the one you prefer.

How do I add an event?

Click on Request Addition in the left navigation pane, fill out the Add a New Event form, and click Add Event to submit your request.

Why does my event not show up after I add it?

All events are initially hidden. Each event submitted has to be approved by the calendar administrator before it is posted. To get the e-mail address of a particular calendar's administrator, contact your IT user consultant (www.uwyo.edu/InfoTech/css/cssuser.htm).

What do I do if I accidentally added an event more than once?

E-mail the calendar administrator, and ask that the un-needed event(s) be removed. To get the e-mail address of a particular calendar's administrator, contact your IT user consultant (www.uwyo.edu/InfoTech/css/cssuser.htm).

How do I let others know about an event?

Click the event in the calendar to view it, and click Email a Friend.

How do I add a contact or Web page for more information to my event?

You will need to specify this additional information when you request the addition of a new event.

How do I change some of the information in my event?

E-mail the administrator of the calendar, as he or she is currently the only one who can edit events. To get the e-mail address of a particular calendar's administrator, contact your IT user consultant (www.uwyo.edu/InfoTech/css/cssuser.htm).

How do I delete my event?

E-mail the administrator of the calendar, as her or she is currently the only one who can delete events. To get the e-mail address of a particular calendar's administrator, contact your IT user consultant (www.uwyo.edu/InfoTech/css/cssuser.htm).

How do I request a new Web Calendar for my college, department, or unit?

Go to the Central Web Site Management Requests site (www.uwyo.edu/centralsiterequests), and fill out a Site Request form. Go through the steps to request the site, and in the Site Purpose box, select CALENDAR WEB SITE.

Is there a calendar available to see what mine might look like?

You can look at an example of a Web Calendar at http://calendar.uwyo.edu/uw. Your calendar will have a similar URL, with the site name you request replacing the "uw" at the end of the URL.

How do I delete events that I do not want enabled?

What are Event Types?

Event Types are categories to help you to classify your events. This allows visitors to your calendar to easily see whether an event is a party, a meeting, or other type of event.

How do I get an event back that I accidentally deleted?
