Ask IT Help Documents
![]() |
UW-specific |
Each University of Wyoming AskIT document is written in a standard format that will enable users to quickly and easily apply the information provided. The following is a list of the conventions used and how to interpret them while reading an AskIT document.
| Conventions | Meanings |
|---|---|
| CAPITALS | A word typed in all capitals is a key name, key combination, or key sequence (i.e. TAB, ENTER, CTRL+ALT+DEL) |
| Bold | Bold type can
signify keystrokes to be typed by the user and is generally
preceded by the word type
or enter (i.e. type
uwmail.uwyo.edu). Bold type can also signify titles of windows, menus, commands, icons, and buttons. |
| Italic | Italic type indicates information to be supplied by the user, though not the actual key strokes (i.e. enter your username as UWYO\username) |
| ALT+ , CTRL+ , SHIFT+ | When the "+" character links a control key with another control key, a letter, or an alphanumeric character, the user should press and hold down the control key and press the additional control key, letter, or number specified at the same time. |
| Type, Enter | These terms are followed by the actual key strokes to be typed (i.e. type uwmail.uwyo.edu). |
