Configure a Dial-Up Connection to the Internet in Windows XP

Introduction

The University of Wyoming (UW) provides students, staff, and faculty with off-campus dial-up Internet access at no cost. This access requires that you have a functioning dial-up modem, a phone connection, and a valid UWYO domain account. For computers that are not UW-owned, Information Technology supports only the UW-specific setup and configuration of the software as presented in this document.

Windows XP offers an easy way to set up and configure a dial-up connection to the Internet. The following steps should be used for setting up a basic connection to the Internet. Though this connection will allow you to access resources on the UW network, it will prompt for your UWYO domain username and password with each connection. If you will be connecting to the UW network on a regular basis, please see How To Configure a Dial-Up Connection to the UW Network in Windows XP (www.uwyo.edu/askit/displaydoc.asp?askitdocid=125&parentid=1 ).
