Configure an Android Device to Work with UW’s Office 365 Email System
NOTE: these instructions are only for users on the Office 365 email system. Users still on the local
Exchange system should see How to Connect to Your UW Email Account or ResNet with an Android-Based Cell Phone.
Introduction
This guide was created using the stock mail settings in Android OS 4 (Ice Cream Sandwich). Different versions of the Android OS and hardware may vary slightly in setup.
Procedures
- To setup Office 365 email on your Android phone open the Settings menu.

- Tap Accounts & Sync.

- Tap ADD ACCOUNT.

- Choose to add a Corporate account. On some devices you will need to choose
Email and then Exchange Activesync.

- Enter your UWyo email address followed by your password. Remember to use your full address with
@uwyo.edu.
- Tap Next.

- When prompted, enter the information below:
IMPORTANT NOTE: This information will be the same across all devices, but could be used in various combinations with the different versions of Android. For instance, you might be asked to enter domain\username together, which would be either
uwyo\username@uwyo.edu or uwyo.edu\username@uwyo.edu depending on your Android version.
Always use your full email address for your username. And always check the server settings as the Android might try and auto-configure them incorrectly.
- Email Address: username@uwyo.edu
- Server Address: m.outlook.com
- Domain: uwyo or uwyo.edu (you might have to try both depending on the version of Android)
- Username: username@uwyo.edu (NOTE: you must use your full email address!)
- Password: your UWyo password
- Make sure the box for Use secure connection (SSL) is checked.

- Click OK if you get a window asking you to allow m.outlook.com to remotely control some security features of your device.
- Depending on your personal preferences, you can leave most selections in the Account options windows as their defaults. Tap
Next.

- If prompted, you may give your account a name to easily recognize it. One easy option would be
Uwyo email.
