What is OneDrive for Business?

OneDrive for Business is a place to keep your work documents and other files. Only you can see your files that you store on OneDrive for Business, but you can easily share them with others for reviewing and editing. Your files are safely kept in the cloud with SharePoint Online. See the Microsoft What is OneDrive for Business? What are Office Web Apps?

Office Web Apps are free, touch-friendly web-based versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote. They let you access documents in a web browser to create and share them online.

How do I access OneDrive for Business and Office Web Apps?

OneDrive for Business is accessed by clicking the Web Apps button on the left side of the header. New documents can be created by clicking the desired Office Web App.

Who has access to OneDrive for Business and Office Web Apps?

All accounts migrated to Office 365 have OneDrive for Business and Office Web Apps enabled.

How much space do I get in my OneDrive for Business storage area?

You are allocated 1 TB for your OneDrive for Business storage. Note: this 1 TB is separate from your 50GB email storage.

Is there a size limit on the files that can be uploaded?

Yes, there is a limit of 2 GB per file.

What file types cannot be uploaded to OneDrive for Business?

What document types can be created and edited with Office 365 Web Apps?

Word, Power Point, Excel and OneNote files can be created and edited with Office 365.

After I click on the "OneDrive for Business" link on my account, how long does it take before I can begin using it?

The amount of time it takes to be able to access OneDrive for Business varies, depending on the current load on the Microsoft Servers. In our testing the availability has ranged from a few minutes to several days. You will receive an email with the subject of "Getting the most out of SharePoint" notifying you when the OneDrive for Business and Office Web Apps are available.

What features does OneDrive for Business provide??

  • OneDrive for Business provides more free storage (1 TB)
  • OneDrive for Business allows remote access to files
  • OneDrive for Business allows access to Office 365 apps
  • Most Microsoft Office file types can be viewed and edited online in a web browser
  • OneDrive for Business allows online collaboration and editing at the same time as others across PCs, Macs, and the web

Can I sync my OneDrive libraries and files to my computer?

How can I restore files in OneDrive for Business?

By default you can only restore deleted files on OneDrive for Business by following the directions located on the Microsoft Office Empty the recycle bin or restore your files web page (http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint-server-help/empty-the-recycle-bin-or-restore-your-files-HA104037369.aspx). If you would like to restore files that have been changed, but not deleted then you must turn on versioning. Versioning is not turned on by default and Information Technology strongly recommends that users enable it. With versioning turned on users can view and restore old versions of files after they have been modified.
