What file types cannot be uploaded to OneDrive Pro?

A listing of blocked file types can be found on the Microsoft Types of files that cannot be added to a list or library (http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/office365-sharepoint-online-enterprise-help/types-of-files-that-cannot-be-added-to-a-list-or-library-HA101907868.aspx?CTT=5&origin=HA102694293) web page under the listing "Blocked file types for SharePoint Online."

In our testing the availability has ranged from a few minutes to several days. You will receive an email with the subject of "Getting the most out of SharePoint" notifying you when the OneDrive Pro and Office Web Apps are available.

How does OneDrive Pro compare to other file share services, such as DropBox or Google Drive?

  • OneDrive Pro provides more free storage (1 TB)
  • OneDrive Pro allows remote access to files
  • OneDrive Pro allows access to Office 365 apps
  • Most Microsoft Office file types can be viewed and edited online in a web browser
  • OneDrive Pro allows online collaboration and editing at the same time as others across PCs, Macs, and the web

Please see the Microsoft Compare OneDrive (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/skydrive/compare) web page for a graphical comparison of these services. Please note, the above web page compares OneDrive to other services. OneDrive Pro has many of the same features, but additional storage cannot be purchased.

Can I sync my OneDrive libraries and files to my computer?

Yes. Please see the Microsoft Sync OneDrive for Business or SharePoint site libraries to your computer (http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/support/sync-skydrive-pro-or-sharepoint-site-libraries-to-your-computer-HA102832401.aspx#_Toc371673736) web page for information.

How can I restore files in OneDrive for Business?

By default you can only restore deleted files on OneDrive for Business by following the directions located on the Microsoft Office Empty the recycle bin or restore your files web page (http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/sharepoint-server-help/empty-the-recycle-bin-or-restore-your-files-HA104037369.aspx). If you would like to restore files that have been changed, but not deleted then you must turn on versioning. Versioning is not turned on by default and Information Technology strongly recommends that users enable it. With versioning turned on users can view and restore old versions of files after they have been modified. For directions to turn on versioning please visit http://it.wvu.edu/services/office365/onedrivebusiness/enabling-and-using-versioning.
