Office 365 - Office Installation Frequently Asked Questions

UW students and benefited faculty and staff are eligible to install the full version of Office Pro Plus as part of UW's Office 365 subscription. Below are some Frequently Asked Questions regarding the program.

Is there any cost to download and run the full versions of Office 365?

No. The software is included free of charge to all UW students and benefited faculty and staff at the University of Wyoming.

How do I download and install the full versions of Office?

Instructions on downloading and installing the software can be found in Install Office Pro Plus from your Office 365 Account (www.uwyo.edu/askit/displaydoc.asp?id=4171).

Who can install and use Office 365 products?

The subscription covers all UW students and benefited faculty and staff.

How many copies of the software can I install?

Office can be installed on up to 5 machines (PC or Mac) and also on up to 5 mobile devices (Android, iPhone etc).

What Operating Systems and devices can I install the Office products on?

The Office 365 install will work on Windows 7 or greater, Mac OS X 10.6 or greater, iPhones, iPads, Windows Phone and Android Phones and Android Tablets.

What products are included in Office 365 ProPlus?

Please refer to Microsoft’s blog. Please note that the blog article was written in 2013 and since that time Office for iPad has been released and is available.

Will I be able to keep the copy of Office once I graduate or leave UW?

No. The install of Office is tied to your University of Wyoming @uwyo.edu email account. You must log into Office 365 at least once every 30 days so Office can verify that you are still eligible. In ineligible, the Office installs you performed under the account will become read-only, so you will not be able to edit files with them.
