Add the UWYO.edu Domain to the Safe Senders List in Microsoft Outlook 2007/2010

Introduction

Important University business messages can potentially be sent to UWYO email lists and inadvertently get filtered to the Junk Email folder depending on a user's filter options. University of Wyoming (UW) mail gateways are not capable of changing the behavior of the Microsoft Outlook client and the way it treats messages once they are received in a user's Inbox, so it is up to the user to make sure they are not accidentally filtering out these messages. To avoid missing University related email messages, users should add the uwyo.edu domain to the Safe Senders List.

This document provides the steps necessary to add the uwyo.edu domain to the Microsoft Outlook Safe Senders List. The methods outlined can also be used to add other domains or individual email addresses to the Safe Senders List.

Procedures

1. Adding the UWYO.edu Domain to the Safe Senders List in Microsoft Outlook
   
   
   1. In Microsoft Outlook, in the main email view, right-click an email message that is from a uwyo.edu email address, click Junk, and click Never block sender's domain (@example.com).
       
   2. If you receive a message letting you know that the sender has been added to the Safe Senders List, click OK.
       
      NOTE: If you wish to verify that the domain has been added correctly, proceed to the detailed method outlined in step 2 of this document.
       
   3. If you receive a message letting you know that the Junk Email Filter is not available for your account because you are not using Cached Exchange Mode, click OK.
       
2. Alternate / Detailed Method of Adding the UWYO.edu Domain to the Safe Senders List in Microsoft Outlook
   
   
   1. In Microsoft Outlook, on the Home tab, in the Delete group, click Junk and then click Junk Email Options.
      
      
   2. On the Safe Senders tab, if you do not already see @uwyo.edu in the list, click Add… , enter uwyo.edu and click OK.
      
      
   3. Click OK to return to the main email view.
