Configure Mac Mail to Connect to UWyo Email (Mac OS X Leopard)
Introduction
This document explains how to initially configure Mac Mail running on
Leopard to access UW Exchange Email.
Procedures
- Click on the Mac Mail icon. If you have never
opened Mail before, the mail configuration wizard will open. Skip to
Step 4.
- When Mail opens, click on Mail in the Menu Bar and choose Preferences.

- Choose Accounts at the top and click on the + in the lower left.

- Enter your full name in the Full Name box.
- Enter your UW email address in the Email Address box
as username@uwyo.edu.
- Enter your UW email password in the Password box and click Continue.

- In the Incoming Mail Server window choose Exchange in the Account Type drop-down menu.
- Enter UW Email in the Description box.
- Enter uwmail.uwyo.edu in the Incoming Mail Server box.
- Enter your UWyo user name and password.
- Enter uwmail.uwyo.edu in the Outlook Web Access Server box and click Continue.

You will receive a message saying Checking Connection to mail server
"uwmail.uwyo.edu"... This may take a few minutes to finish.

- In the Outgoing Mail Server window enter UW Email in the Description box.
- Select uwmail.uwyo.edu in the Outgoing Mail Server box. If this is your only UW email account check Use only this server, however, if you plan to set up multiple email accounts, leave the checkbox unchecked.
- Check the Use Authentication checkbox and your user name and password will appear by default.

- When the Account Summary page appears, click Create to bring the account online.
