Use Command Line Editing Under the Z Shell on FRONTIER

NOTE: Functional knowledge and use of this application is the responsibility of the user.

When you login to FRONTIER, your cursor will be positioned at the shell prompt. Command line editing is a feature of the Z Shell. Commands are entered at the shell prompt frontier:~> The key sequences below show how to edit current and previously issued commands.

Commands

The plus (+) character links a control key with an alphanumeric character. The user should hold down the control key and press the letter specified at the same time.

<Ctrl>+a -- moves to the beginning of the line
<Ctrl>+c -- cancels the current command
<Ctrl>+e -- moves to the end of the line
<Ctrl>+h -- deletes the character to the left of the cursor (also accomplished by the Delete key)
<Ctrl>+u -- erases from the current cursor position to the beginning of the line
<Ctrl>+v -- allows the insertion of special characters, such as control keys
<Ctrl>+w -- deletes the word to the left of the cursor

Cursor Movement Keys

Up and Down Arrows -- move forwards and backwards through the command history list
Left and Right Arrows -- move left and right within the the current command
