LYNX is a browser for the World-Wide Web. Unlike most browsers, which normally require a Windows-like environment, LYNX is designed to operate on a simple character-cell, or text-based terminal emulator such as Kermit. These emulators have neither graphic nor mouse capabilities, so LYNX cannot show pictures or respond to a mouse. LYNX will show text, formatted for the limited capabilities of a terminal. If graphics are encountered, it will simply display [IMAGE] to let you know that there is supposed to be an image.
To access LYNX, at the shell prompt, enter:
frontier:~> lynx url
If no URL is specified, the default will be the University of Wyoming Home Page at http://www.uwyo.edu
