Clear Java Cache for Internet-Native Banner

UW Information Technology performed upgrades to Banner INB servers early November, 2009, to correct performance issues. To complete the upgrade process, individual users need to clear their Java cache and browser cache.

Procedures

To correct this error do the following:

  1. Close ALL browsers and make sure the Java icon is not showing in your system tray.

  2. Click the Windows Start button and select Control Panel. Double-click on Java.

  3. In the Java Control Panel window, under Temporary Internet Files, click on Settings... (Java version 1.6) or Delete Files... (Java version 1.5)

    If you are running Java version 1.6 the Temporary Files Settings window will open. Click on Delete Files...

  4. In the Delete Temporary Internet Files window, check all checkboxes and click OK, then click OK in the Java Control Panel window.

  5. Open your browser, clear the browser cache, and go to Banner INB. You should now be able to log in normally.
