Install Minitab 16 from the UW Network

NOTE: Functional knowledge and use of this application is the responsibility of the user.

Introduction

Information Technology provides the statistical package Minitab for a yearly fee for faculty and staff use on university owned computers. Contact IT Software services at 766-4860 for pricing and ordering information.

The license server the product connects to is currently only accessible to computers on campus and inside the UW firewall. The computer must have a constant network connection in order to launch and run Minitab.

Procedure

Before starting this procedure, it is recommended that all open documents be saved and any open applications be closed.

1. Accessing the network installation point for Minitab 16.
    
   1. Click the Start menu button, and click in the Search program and file box (or click Run in Windows XP).
       
   2. In the Search program and files box (or the Run window), type \\uwapps.uwyo.edu\minitab16$ and press Enter.
      NOTE: Make sure that you have typed the correct slashes (i.e. \ and not /).

   3. Double click on SetupMinitab16.exe.

   4. If you get a Security Warning screen, click Yes.

   5. In the Welcome to the Minitab 16 Setup window, click Next.

   6. In the End-User License Agreement window, check the box next to “I accept the terms in the License Agreement” and click Next.

   7. In the Minitab License Manager Information window, enter the License Server and port information that was provided to you when the license was purchased. Click Next.

   8. In the Ready to Install Minitab 16 window, click Install.

   9. In the Completed the Minitab 16 Setup window, click Finish.

2. Accessing Minitab 16
    
   To access Minitab 16, click the Windows Start button, All Programs, Minitab, Minitab 16 Statistical Software.
