Install SAS 9.4 from the UW Network

Introduction

Contact the UWIT Help Desk at http://support.uwyo.edu, call 766-HELP (4357) option 1, or email userhelp@uwyo.edu to request access to SAS 9.4.

NOTE: Functional knowledge and use of this application is the responsibility of the user.

NOTE: Approximately 10 gigabytes of hard drive space is needed.

NOTE: This document applies to both the 32 bit and 64 bit versions. The 64 bit version should only be used on 64 bit Windows 7, Windows 8 and 8.1 systems. NOTE for Windows 7, Vista and XP users: SAS 9.4 is not supported on any of the home basic editions of Windows 7 nor for any version of Vista or XP. See http://support.sas.com/supportos/list for details on supported operating systems.

Procedure

The example used in this How To will be for a 64 bit version of Windows 7.

  1. Installing SAS 9.4

    1. Click on the Start button and in the Search programs and files window enter
      \\uwapps.uwyo.edu\SAS9.4$\setup.exe
      for both 32 and 64 bit Windows systems.
       
    2. In the Choose Setup Language window, verify that English is selected, and click OK.
       
    3. In the Select Deployment Task window, verify that Install SAS Software is selected and click Next.

    4. Click on Next in the Specify SAS Home window.

    5. Make sure Install SAS Foundation and Related Software is checked in the Select Deployment Type window.

    6. In the Select Products to Install window uncheck SAS Enterprise Guide. Click on Next.

    7. In the Select SAS Foundation Mode window, select the appropriate mode (64 bit is used in this example) and click on Next.

    8. Click on Next in the Select SAS Foundation Products window.

    9. Click on Next in the Specify SAS Installation Data File window (the proper data file will have been predetermined in step 2F).

    10. Select Clear All in the Select Language Support window (which leaves English selected). Click on Next.

    11. Click on Next in the Select Regional Settings window.

    12. Click on Next after the Checking System process finishes.

    13. The actual installation begins at this point. Click on Start. Installation may take 30 minutes or more. Click on Next when done.

    14. Click Finish in the Additional Resources window.
