Configure Microsoft Outlook 2011 for Mac to Access Your UWyo Email

Introduction

All University of Wyoming (UW) faculty, staff, and students are provided with an email account, and Microsoft Outlook and Outlook Web Access are the supported applications for accessing this account. The Microsoft Office 2011 packages offered to faculty, staff and students by UW includes Outlook 2011, which can be configured to connect to UW email accounts. These instructions can be used to setup Outlook for users both on Office 365 and on our local exchange servers. These instructions can also be used to configure access for on campus computers and those off-campus or in the residence halls.

Procedure

1. Open Outlook 2011.
    
2. With Outlook open, click on Outlook in the top menu bar and then select Preferences…

3. In the Outlook Preferences window, click Accounts in the Personal Settings section.

4. In the Accounts window:
   
   
   1. If there is not an account configured, click Exchange Account.

   2. If there is an account already configured, click on the Add an account + sign at the bottom of the left column, and select Exchange…

5. In the Enter your Exchange account information window, enter your University of Wyoming email address and verify Method is set to User Name and Password. Then enter your User name in the format username@uwyo.edu and your domain password. Verify Configure automatically is selected, and click Add Account.

6. If you receive Outlook was redirected windows for your account, check the box next to Always use my response for this server and click Allow. You may have to do this more than once.

7. Verify that the information in the Accounts windows is correct, and close that window. Outlook 2011 is now configured and will get your Exchange information.
