Research Statement

Dr. Deng’s research focuses on ice cloud properties retrieval algorithm development and data analysis from the ground-base, airborne and satellite active remote sensing measurements. She is also interested in aerosol and fire plume identification and extinction coefficient retrieval with ultra-violet lidar. As the lidar scientist for NSF-funded UW KingAir facility, her emphasis is placed on Wyoming Cloud Lidar instrument calibration and characterization.

Current Projects

  • BB-FLUX: Trace gas emission fluxes from biomass burning sources on the N2UW
  • WECAN: Western Wildfire Experiment for Cloud Chemistry, Aerosol, Absorption and Nitrogen
  • CloudSat Level 2 standard products improvement and operational support
