Big Day - This is a classic big day restricted to Wyoming, during which a single-team's primary goals are (1) to identify as many bird species as possible during a single calendar day and (2) to strive to have all team members identify all species recorded. We recommend anyone interested in participating in a Big Day carefully read and follow the American Birding Association Big Day Count Rules.
Most Species - This is simply the person who sees the greatest number of species in Wyoming during the Bonanza (May 1 - May 31, 2013).
No prizes, other than bragging rights, are up for grabs in these two statewide categories.
Most Species - This category is the heart of the Bonanza. On a per county basis, the participant who sees the greatest number of species during the Bonanza (May 1 - May 31, 2013) will win a prize. There are 23 counties in Wyoming, which means there are 23 prizes up for grabs. In the event a participant sees the most species in more than one county, the prize will be awarded to the second place finisher. Prizes will likely include gift certificates to Eagle Optics, field guides and copies of Doug Faulkner's book, Birds of Wyoming.
There are two participation categories.
Anyone who submits at least 10 complete checklists during the Bonanza will be entered into a drawing for a fabulous prize!
Anyone who submits at least 15 complete checklists during the Bonanza will be given a free Wyoming Birding Bonanza t-shirt!
