Kati Stoll, 2011-12 Intern of the Year

Kati Stoll

The Johnson Career Center has made a huge difference in my final year of school. With the help of the staff, especially Steve Farkas, I was able to form my own internship with a local business, Dodds Shoe Company. This was the perfect opportunity for me because I am pursuing duel degrees in Textiles and Merchandising as well as Marketing. By forming this internship I was able to focus on both my degrees of study as well as work in the industry I am most interested in, fashion. Steve really helped me to form my internship and create a structure that allowed me to work with our buyer one on one and do things that I will be doing in my future career. This hands on experience is more beneficial than anything I have learned in the classroom. One of the most amazing experiences I have had during the course of my internship was the opportunity to go on a buying trip to Las Vegas with my employer. I would not have been able to go on this trip without the help of the Johnson Career Center; they helped me to organize my trip as well as arranged for my classes to be excused so I could attend the buying trip without hurting my academic life. The experience I have gained and the connections I have made not only with my employer but also with other individuals in the industry will only help me to obtain all of my future career goals. I could not be happier that I reached out to the Johnson Career Center for help and I cannot thank them enough for the difference they have made in my final year of school.
