DECA Scholarships

The University of Wyoming College of Business is proud to be a part of the National DECA Advisory Board. We support and encourage high school students who are electing to go to school at our college to join our recently formed Collegiate DECA Organization as we have soon the true impact participation in this group can have. 

DECA Wyoming State Officer Scholarship

Decision Criteria

  • Incoming first-year student who must have completed the FAFSA
  • Above 3.5 High School Unweighted GPA
  • Held Chapter Officer Position within DECA
  • Scholarship allocation does not exceed cost of tuition

Scholarship Renewals

Following the student's first year, renewal of their scholarship each year is dependent on the student remaining high achieving in a respective business discipline which is defined as:

  • Taking a minimum of 15 credit hours/semester while remaining a College of Business student
  • Maintaining a minimum Institutional and College GPA of 3.5
  • Participation as a member of Wyoming Collegiate DECA Chapter

Dispersal of Scholarship Awards

All Awards will be distributed through our Student Financial Aid Office along with the overarching financial aid package. College of Business students who earn scholarships are required to write a thank you note for the scholarship and signatures are required within the College of Business Dean's Office upon an incoming student's arrival on campus. Scholarships are guaranteed once offered and are all pending a student's official enrollment. An email notification will go out to incoming students who meet the criteria for this scholarship on a rolling basis along with additional instructions. Scholarship award amounts are based upon the student's residency status:

  • DECA students that meet these criteria are offered $1000

DECA National Officer Scholarship

Decision Criteria

  • Incoming first-year student who must have completed the FAFSA
  • Above 3.5 High School Unweighted GPA
  • Held National Officer Position within DECA
  • Scholarship allocation does not exceed cost of tuition

Scholarship Renewals

  • Taking a minimum of 15 credit hours/semester while remaining a College of Business student
  • Maintaining a minimum Institutional and College GPA of 3.5
  • Participation as a member of Wyoming Collegiate DECA Chapter

  • DECA students who meet these criteria are offered up to a $10,000 scholarship

DECA Entrepreneurship State & National Scholarships

Decision Criteria

  • Incoming first-year student who must have completed the FAFSA
  • Above 3.5 High School Unweighted GPA
  • Won either Wyoming State Start-up Business Plan Competitive Event or the DECA National Start-up Business Plan Competitive Event during any point in their high school career
  • Scholarship allocation does not exceed cost of tuition

Scholarship Renewals

Following the student's first year, renewal of their scholarship each year is dependant on the student remaining high achieving in a respective business discipline which is defined as:

  • Taking a minimum of 15 credit hours/semester while remaining a College of Business student
  • Maintaining a minimum Institutional and College GPA of 3.5
  • Participation as a member of Wyoming Chapter of Collegiate Entrepreneurs Organization or Wyoming Collegiate DECA Chapter

Dispersal of Scholarship Awards

College of Business students who earn scholarships are required to write a thank you note for the scholarship and signatures are required within the College of Business Dean's Office upon an incoming student's arrival on campus. Scholarships are guaranteed once offered and are all pending a student's official enrollment. An email notification will go out to incoming students who meet the criteria for this scholarship in January along with additional instructions. Scholarship award amounts are based upon the student's residency status:

  • The winner of the Wyoming State Event is offered $5,000 in person at the Wyoming State Conference
  • The winner of the DECA National Event is offered $10,000 in person at the ICDC Conference in April
