Holiday Market

Come celebrate the Holidays in the Union. The Wyoming Union at the University of Wyoming is excited to announce The 2009 Holiday Market, the annual holiday craft bazaar held Thursday, December 3 (10 am - 5:30 pm) and Friday, December 4 (9 am - 1 pm). Please note the shortened hours on Friday due to a commencement event. The bazaar will have over 75 vendors on the Second Floor of the Union for your shopping and enjoyment.

The Wyoming Union continues its tradition of providing fantastic shopping, food, door prizes, and plenty of holiday cheer to the communities of Laramie and UW. The Union staff is excited to host a bigger and improved Market than years past.

2009 World Aids Day

We will be having a Nigerian Performance Group, WASA will be doing a drum circle , traditional African food, a contemplation room, showimng the Imagine Video, and providing rapid testing. The purpose of this event is to educate the University community about the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Our national mission is to inspire and mobilize students to fight AIDS in Africa, at UW, and we also take on the local aspects of the pandemic. Albany County AIDS project and Wyo AIDS Walk are co-sponsoring this event.

Border Wars Blood Drive

There will be a blood drive on two days, November 17 and November 24, in a contest with the Ft. Collins center of the United Blood Services. Service will be provided by the United Blood Services (contact: Kevin Koerwitz (307) 638-9189 ).

There will be a standard blood drive layout in the east ballroom. All donors will get a free hat. Cookies and juice will be served for donors.

The Good Mule Project (TGMP) is a student-led initiative to increase awareness of social and environmental justice issues, to encourage civic literacy and action, and to advance cross-cultural understanding at the University of Wyoming. Our objective is to energize UW students to find solutions to local and global problems by providing them with the knowledge, training, and support needed to take an active role in shaping the world around them.

We accomplish this by hosting an annual Good Mule Student Conference that brings together UW students united in their passion to improve their communities. Participants spend two days exploring the idea of personal social responsibility, learning effective organizing strategies, and gaining exposure to human rights and environmental issues. The conference prepares students to become skilled and knowledgeable agents of change.

Secondly, our website," The Good Mule" serves to centralize social justice, environmental sustainability, and diversity efforts at UW. Through greater visibility of these causes, we aim to build greater support for these endeavors. Furthermore, the website is designed to incite dialogue around issues pertaining to our core issue areas. To attain our goal of inspiring action, each feature of the website comes equipped with suggestions on how to get involved in these matters.

Lastly, the Good Mule Project is a recognized student organization (RSO) at the University of Wyoming. RSO members oversee the project's operations and organize service projects.
