H1N1 (Swine Influenza) InformationSWINE FLU STATUS: The first case of H1N1 was confirmed in Albany County on July 9. Since Aug. 31, the UW Student Health Service has diagnosed 197 students with influenza or influenza-like symptoms; six of those students were diagnosed in the past week. Diagnosis is based on symptoms and in some cases a rapid test for influenza A, not an H1N1 specific test. Many more students are seen at the Student Health Service with symptoms consistent with H1N1 influenza but are not diagnosed with the illness because they do not meet the criteria for H1N1 diagnosis. Some infected people have also reported vomiting and diarrhea. If you become ill, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend you stay home from work or school and limit contact with others to keep from spreading disease. Resource LinksInfluenza Emergency Preparedness Plan
