Annie Robbins grew up in the mountains of Colorado, where she developed a love of everything outdoors. She graduated from the University of Colorado-Boulder with a bachelor of arts in integrative physiology in 2007. After finishing her degree, she decided to combine her love of helping others, medicine, and the outdoors by joining the ski patrol of Steamboat Ski Resort. Summers included horse packing, trail guiding, and teaching horseback riding. While this lifestyle gave her the incredible opportunity to be in the mountains, she wanted something new. She went back to school to get her master of science in natural science education.

This adventure started in Kelly, Wyo., at Teton Science School, a residential program that focuses on local ecology and teaching pedagogy. To finish her degree, she moved to Laramie in 2014. During her studies, she found time to climb, ski, backpack, and adventure with her dogs and boyfriend, who ended up proposing at the top of their favorite rock climb. Professionally, she has been at UW as a program coordinator and a professional academic advisor. This most recent job has given her the opportunity to help students take a leadership role in their academic career. She believes that every student has the ability to make good choices for themselves when they have the right information and tools.

If you have any questions about class schedules, degree planning, registration, or want to hear her dad joke of the week, stop by or make an appointment.

Philosophy

I am here to give students the tools and knowledge to make choices for themselves.  This challenges them to take responsibility for their decisions and actions. College life is more than just academics, and holding students accountable for their choices helps them navigate life outside of the classroom. College is a time for growth and self-discovery, so I empower students to evaluate their own interests, goals, and priorities.

I take responsibility for knowing policy, procedures, and requirements held by the University and specifically the College of Engineering and Applied Science.  I actively pursue ways to continually grow as an advisor.  I am passionate about professional development, and challenge myself to apply new theories and methodologies to my advising practice. It is important for students to have realistic expectations, so it is critical to be honest and straightforward.  I strive to be a student advocate and will always have their best interest in mind.
