Adam Towler Memorial 5-K/10-K Run
June 23, 2011 — The Adam Towler Memorial 5-K/10-K Run had a great turnout this year with
over 150 people participating in the fourth annual event on July 17. In
honor of Adam Towler, son of Professor Brian Towler of the Department
of Chemical and Petroleum Engineering, community members and his family
have organized this race for the past four years to honor his memory.
Funds collected from race entrance fees are expected to exceed $8,000
and will benefit St. Laurence O'Toole Elementary School, Heart-to-Heart
Pregnancy Center, the American Heart Association, and the Boston
Children's Memorial.
Congratulations to all who participated in the races on Saturday. The
College of Engineering was well represented in the results. Dean Rob
Ettema won the 50-60 age division of the 5K, with Chemical and Petroleum
Engineering (ChPE) Professor Dave Bell coming in at second. Civil and
Architectural Engineering Department Head Dave Bagley won the 40-50
division of the 5K with Maohong Fan (ChPE) coming in second. Heather
Warren (ChPE) got second in the Women’s 40-50 division of the 5K. Jeff
French of the Atmospheric Science Department was second in the Masters
division of the State 10K Championships.
