Signal Processing Expert Returns to UW
October 10, 2011 — Dr. Lynn Kirlin returns
to the UW Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering as a
visiting scholar for fall semester. Lynn was a professor at UW from
1969-1986. He is also an alumnus having received both a B.S. and M.S.
Lynn is one of the leading statistical signal processors in the country and is an IEEE Fellow, which is the highest rank in the electrical engineering professional society. He has 40 years of experience in statistical signal and array processing with applications to multidimensional data, images, speech and hearing, EEG, sonar, HF radar, seismic, communications, and random switching for DC power conversion. Over his career he has spent considerable time in both industry and academia including working at the University of Victoria, Raytheon Missile Systems, Rincon Research, Floating Point Systems, Datel, Boeing, and Martin-Marietta. We are fortunate to have him here sharing his knowledge with both students and faculty.
