Tau Beta Pi - Outstanding Junior Award - Matthew Melton

June 25, 2012 — Matthew Melton is a junior in Petroleum Engineering from Wasilla, Alaska. He grew up in Colorado and Alaska, and returned to the Rocky Mountains for higher education. He chose the University of Wyoming for the excellent education and great outdoor experiences. This past summer, he was a facilities engineering intern in Texas for ConocoPhillips. He will be returning to work for ConocoPhillips this summer in New Mexico. Matthew is very active in the American Association of Drilling Engineers, first serving as vice president and now serving as president of the University of Wyoming Chapter. He is also active in the Society of Petroleum Engineers’ section on campus. Upon graduation Matthew plans to work for a major integrated energy company somewhere in North America. He would like to thank God, his family, and his peers for his success. He spends his free time skiing, biking, hiking, shooting, and exploring the great outdoors.
